Pattaya to host FISU Uni Muaythai Championships

This year’s (FISU) World University Muaythai Cham­pionship, hosted in conjunction with CPAO, Chon­buri Education Institute and the Ministry of Sports and Tourism is scheduled to take place at the Hard Rock Hotel Pattaya from June 23-29.

Pakaratorn Tienchai, the governor of Chonburi, revealed at a press conference held June 6 that over 170 Muaythai experts from around the globe will be joining the fray. It has been confirmed that there are 35 different countries participating in the event with two categories of competition, including the men’s with 12 titles and women’s with 7 titles on offer.

This event is the first in the world under the collaboration of the FISU and the International Federation of Muaythai Amateur (IFMA), helping to promote Thai Boxing to the world and it will be a great opportunity for Thai nationals to take another step toward international rings and events. The tournament is expected to draw heavy interest from tourists, especially Muaythai lovers.
