A group of Pattaya villagers raised 40,000 baht with a charity football match for a 19-year-old boy stricken with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
Going well beyond the “ice bucket challenge” that has become the trendy way to raise money for ALS, Soi Bonkai neighbors of Phatchara Hreeluksawadee organized an eight-man football match to pay for his ongoing treatment at Queen Sirikit Naval Medical Center.
The boy has been hospitalized for six months and can move only his neck and head, but cannot talk.
Besides the football, Thai boxer Sudsakhorn S. Klinmee and Pattaya Arena coach Prasert Innui donated their jerseys to be auctioned.
Those interested in helping can donate funds to Phatchara’s account at Kasikorn Bank, number 389-2-44886-2 or call 086-661-5000.
