Pattaya United teach football to Kamphaeng Phet students

Ninety northern youths recently headed south to take up sports as an alternative to using drugs at a camp run by the Pattaya United Football Club.

Coaches and trainers from both Pattaya and Chonburi FC’s ran the Oct. 1 camp for Kamphaeng Phet province youths at the Nongprue Stadium.

Pattaya United manager Songyot Klinsrisouk, with leading Thai football athletes including Sarawut Fuengkaen, Pathipat Amatontree and Wacharapong Buasri, offered a two-hour lesson on all aspects of the game.

The program, run with the National Command Center for Drugs for the second year in a row, pointed students from Kampaeng Phet Sports School and other provincial youths toward football as a way to spend their free time instead of using drugs.
