Sunday, May 15, Green Valley – Stableford

It looked very much like rain today here at Green Valley with a lot of very black clouds and some thunder and flashes of lightning, but we kept on going and eventually it cleared up and once again we got round dry.

Paul Pavloff.

We had some very good scoring again today and if you didn’t play to your handicap you weren’t in the prizes.  Ged Foy took the top spot with thirty eight points, beating Paul Pavloff into second place on the count back but Paul wasn’t be too disappointed as he also got a ‘2’ so ended up getting the same money as Ged!  Paul has been playing great golf this trip and despite his handicap coming down to six he is still in the prizes every day.

Russell Gilroy showed that his spell in hospital didn’t do him any harm as he also had thirty eight points but had to settle for third place on the count back from Paul.  Geoff King took the fourth and last place with a level handicap score of thirty six points.

1st Ged Foy (21) 38pts

2nd Paul Pavloff (6) 38pts

3rd Russell Gilroy (18) 38pts

4th Geoff King (16) 36pts

2’s: Paul Pavloff, Kevin Sullivan.

Tuesday, May 17, Greenwood – Stableford

Today we were back at Greenwood along with our friends from the PFGS on what is definitely the best value for money course in the area at the moment, especially when you take in to consideration the condition it is in which is top class.

Today we played the A and B nines and had some excellent scores and again if you didn’t play to your handicap you were nowhere.  Paul Pavloff carried on where he left off on Sunday only today he was actually better by two points and won the day with an excellent score of forty.  This brings Paul’s handicap down to five and he told me it is over ten years since he played off that handicap.  Well done Paul, the older you get the better you get!

Russell Gilroy repeated his Sunday score and came second with thirty eight points while Shaun Merriman took the third place with thirty seven points, beating Ged Foy on count back.  Bernie Van Zcl took the fifth place with thirty six.

1st Paul Pavloff (6) 40pts

2nd Russell Gilroy (18) 38pts

3rd Shaun Merriman (10) 37pts

4th Ged Foy (21) 37pts

5th Bernie Van Zyl (20) 36pts

2’s: Paul Pavloff, Shaun Merriman.

Thursday, May 19, Burapha – Stableford

This was our first time this year to play the A & B nines at Burapha as they had been closed for maintenance for the past few weeks since we started back playing here.  We found the course in beautiful condition and while the greens are not yet up to standard they are almost there.

Hisahiko Makino.

We all played off the long blue tees and today it was playing very long, probably because of the very heavy rain for the past few nights and there was no run on the ball. I am not sure if that is why the scoring wasn’t as good today as we have had for the last few games or if it was just bad golf but today we had nobody play to even near their handicap with thirty three points being the best score we had.

Hisahiko Makino played his first ever game with us and he came out the winner after beating Russell Gilroy, making his third visit to the podium this week, on count back.  Don Everett took the third place with thirty two points and we had no ‘2’s today.

1st Hisahiko Makino (11) 33pts

2nd Russell Gilroy (18) 33pts

3rd Don Everett (20) 32pts
