On Sunday 4th January, Pattaya Cricket Club hosted the Asian Star Cricket Club in their final pre-season game at the beautiful Thai Polo Ground.

Batting first, Asian Star lost a wicket to the first ball of the game; Janu stumped by Colin Clark, standing up to Salman Khan.  Another two top order batsmen soon followed and Asian Star were struggling at 20 for 3.

Captain Salman then rotated his bowling attack, but still wickets kept falling regularly and with 10 overs left Asian Star were staring down the barrel at 110 for 8.  A battling unbeaten 50 from Mouline helped the visitors to limp to 165 for 9 in their allotted 30 overs, with David Scott beng the standout bowler for Pattaya with figures of 4 for 25 in 6 overs.

Despite losing Dan Nicholson for 13, PCC started strongly in reply and Venkatesh Rojago and Colin Clark put on a hundred stand for the second wicket, taking the game away from Asian Star.  Both players reached their fifties before Venky had to leave the field suffering with cramp.  Some late hitting from Paul Hack and a six off the last ball from Colin gave PCC a win by 8 wickets.  It was a great win over a Premier League team.

PCC start their league season with a home game against Chicha Cricket Club on Sunday 11th January, with the match starting at 11.00 am at the Thai Polo Ground in East Pattaya.

Pattaya Cricket Club would like to thank the Pattaya Sports Club for their continued support.
