Organizers of Saturday’s PEA Happy Run hope to bring 2,500 athletes to Pattaya to promote the Provincial Electricity Authority’s new image.
Pattaya Deputy City Manager Wuthipol Charoenpol chaired a Jan. 16 planning meeting for the five-kilometer run that begins at 6 p.m. Jan. 27 at Bali Hai Pier.
Organizer Mojito Entertainment Co. said the non-competitive run is designed to showcase “PEA 4.0”, the utility’s bid to comply with the government’s Thailand 4.0 strategy to modernize the country. The company has arranged for celebrities Pinky Sawika and Yo Yodsawadee to lead the race.
Runners will begin at Bali Hai and run along the beach to the South Pattaya Lighthouse, enter the Naval Radio Station Public Park and come back down Pratamnak Hill past the Tourist Police Division station, over the Bali Hai flyover and back to the jetty.
Along the way, runners will stop at four different points for exhibits on PEA’s activities. Participants also will get free food and beverages at the end of the event.
Pattaya will provide security with Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation and Pattaya Hospital medics on standby for emergencies.
Wuthipol impressed upon Mojito executives the importance of keeping the route and reception areas clean and of the organizer’s responsibility to remove all litter and garbage.
