Monday, Dec. 17, The Emerald – Stableford
Emerald is in great condition now, we played there about 3 months ago and the green surrounds were in terrible condition. I know that things need doing around the course maintenance wise but a little at a time would have been nice. Anyway, saying that it was a pleasure to be here today with 3 groups.
It wasn’t a great day out for Greig Ritchie however as he withdrew after 6 holes and went to his car to sleep. Hope you’re feeling a bit better now mate.
We welcomed John Ayers, Tony Jone’s and Mark Graham and I put these guys out with Bob Pearce who celebrated his 73rd birthday on Sunday and believe it or not he was the baby of the group!

Winning today was the aforementioned Bob Pearce with 36 points ahead of Brian Maddox in second with 35 points, John Locke third with 34, and in fourth was Darl White with 33.
There was only one 2 and that went to John Ayers – I think the oldest golfer out there today.
Wednesday, Dec. 19, Green Valley – Stableford
Wednesday golf from the Billabong was as usual at the Green Valley golf course which is in very good condition. Scores were in the mid range with the highest being 37 points scored by two players. The first place went to Jeff Ryves from the Golf Centre on a count back from Bill Marsden.
Three ‘2’s were recorded today with two going to Paul Sharples and the other to Jeff Ryves.
The temperature was hot for most of the day with very little breeze until late in the game. After golf it was back to the bar to have a cold beer with the Beck’s who arrived from Christchurch late the previous night.
Friday, Dec. 21, Treasure Hill – Stableford
Treasure Hill was the order of the day and apart from the traffic getting there it is a great course that takes no prisoners, as you will see by the scores.
Five groups playing and we got away on time with the first group going round in 3½ hours, which is really quick at this time of the year. It got a bit hot around noon but until then it was perfect weather for golf.
Welcome back to Thailand to Alan Beck and his lovely partner Karen Craigie, whom the Capt played with today. Sorry Greig and I took the money but really it was Greig that did all the damage, one birdie from me was my total contribution to the score card, I mean 8 points the first nine and 11 on the back tells you it was your mate that did you the damage.
The winner was that man again ‘Mr. Consistency’ Bob Pearce with 36 points, then there were three players on 32; Phil Waite got the nod for second over Greig Ritchie and in fourth was Jeff North. Fifth place went to Darl White with 31 and from there it got a little worse all the way down to 19 points.
There were four ‘s’2 from Darl White and Jeff North, who got one each, and the other 2 went to Bob Pearce, the one he got on the 17th was almost a hole in one.
