Well you didn’t have to wait long for the title guy’s story to emerge – Peter ‘the silver surfer’ Henshaw was the man of the match with a excellent 42 points, his back nine total being a mind blowing 24 points at the society’s home course.
Sunday’s winners Justin Fowlis (left) and Peter Henshaw (right) with the golf president Christy Knight.
The trailing pair of Sir William Peach esquire and the inform lady golfer Jum Karagit, both with 38 points, were happy when they walked off the course, but sad when the B Flight results were announced and it got worse for Jum as she lost the count back to Sir William.
Top spot in the senior circuit went to Justin Fowlis and his excellent 41 points. Aussie star Simon Spaulding was left only the silver despite a fine 40 points and a triumvirate of golfers were log jammed on 38 points; Yui Bietry, Aussie boys Simon Spaulding and Nick ‘walk about’ Odnoral and Freddy ‘the quite one’ Starbeck. Yui made off with the bronze whilst Freddy was explaining his round to the Aussie boys.
Eddy Beilby (a brace), Simon Spaulding, Ludovic Henninot, Andy Kellaher, Mark Haffendon and Jum Karagit shared the 2’s pot.

C Flight
1st Christy Knight (24) 40pts
2nd Mike Jefferys (18) 36pts
3rd Aiden Murray (19) 33pts
The Lewiinski’s Golf Society moved its Monday to Tuesday to avail itself of the low season Sports Days at local courses that seem to predominate on Tuesdays. As has been our tradition in years past, we use the opportunity to visit the immaculate Laem Chabang layout. All thought the green fee is well reduced but the buildup of caddy fee and cart still created sticker shock among the faithful.
42 points was the winning score of the day in B Flight as Nick ‘the thunder from down under’ Odnoral posted this brilliant total. The Donkey rattled the pay windows with his 39 points as he was two clear of Ludovic Henninot.
A Flight had its own 40-pointer, a splendid return from Les Cobban as he took the flight gold two clear of Michael Mier and another from old mate JJ Maffray.
Dropping down to C Flight the good scores continued as Irishman Christy ‘good’ Knight did a supposed one in twenty-one rounds as he shot his own 40 points. Christy’s score was hardly out of line with the field as he was followed in by Mike ‘the Welsh Wizard’ Jefferys with a solid even par round and Aiden Murray on 33 points.
JP Maffray, Lindsay Semple and Maurice Roberts shared the ‘2’s pot.
Wednesday, May 21, Royal Lakeside – Stableford
1st Tore Eliassen (17) 37pts
2nd Thierry Petrement (13) 35pts
3rd Rod Brown (16) 34pts
Wily Tore Eliaseen was the only player to solve the Royal Lakeside riddle on the day as he stood alone, the only competitor under par with 37 points. Nice Guy Thierry Petrement showed that he was coming into form as he snuck into second place on 35 points while Rod Brown and the Donkey went to a count back as they were locked on 34 points, with Rod edging the Donkey off the podium steps.
No 2’s were recorded.
Friday, Mau 23, Mt. Shadow – Stableford
A Flight
1st JP Maffray (12) 36pts
2nd Freddy Starbeck (13) 31pts
B Flight
1st Aiden Murray (19) 33pts
2nd Rod Brown (16) 33pts
The week concluded with a trip to the always tough Mountain Shadow. The day was hot but breezy and the rain gods were thankfully at peace.
Yet again the scores were poor with just JP Maffray managing to play to his handicap in the senior circuit. Freddy Starbeck was speechless to find his 31 points landed him the silver, and if you believe that you would believe anything.
In B Flight, pay window specialist Aiden Murray emerged from a three-man logjam on 33 points to find himself top of the heap, while Rod Brown clung to the silver as Mike ‘the welsh Wizard’ Jefferys was left pot less at sea level.
Bruce Anderson was the sole heir to the rollover 2’s pot.
