PSC Golf from The Billabong Bar

Monday, Dec. 24, Phoenix Gold – Stableford

Christmas Eve and Phoenix was the venue for 4 groups, playing the Lakes and Ocean loops which were in fantastic condition and a pleasure to play. The course was packed to the rafters but the day went smoothly thanks to the staff and management.

The scoring today was very good with a countback required for the minor places between Helmut Hebstriet and John Locke, with Helmut being relegated to the bronze and John taking the silver, both with 35 points. But it was the Captain’s day today, posting his best round for a long time and scoring 39 points.

There were three ‘2’s, coming from Capt Bob, Sandy Chapo and Dave Bramley.

Wednesday, Dec. 26, Green Valley – Medal

The Haven Consultants medal day was up for grabs today at Green Valley and near perfect conditions for golf greeted us on the first tee. The course was in marvelous shape with great greens to putt on and lush fairways to compliment them.

We had just 5 groups of men and only 2 groups of ladies but everything went smoothly and the round just flowed along. In the ladies competition it was a hard fought battle with two of them on net 73, which had to be decided on a countback and Miss Nu was edged into second 2nd place by Miss May who took home the Haven trophy.

In the men’s division it was down to the wire also with Mikael Andersson being relegated to third on a countback by Bob Newell, both with a net 69 but Bob having a 2 over the card on the back-nine. They were narrowly beaten by Peter Thomas with a net 68.

There were three ‘2’s, coming from Peter Thomas, Bob Newell and our Haven Consultants sponsor Brian Chapman.

Friday, Dec. 28, Phoenix Gold – Scramble

Phoenix Ocean and Mountain nines were the choice for the monthly scramble and what great condition they were in. With 12 teams competing, the battle was intense, and with the odd birdie missed here and there it made for a day of not so low scores.

The Courtyard Cavaliers of Geoff Couch, Jeff North, Chris Brendle and Phil McCafferty returned to the podium with a score of 61.5 for third place. In second was the quartet of Arch Armstrong, Gary Ritchie, Paul Hack and Bill Colliss,  with 61.4, but the Billabong team of Sandy Chapo, Bob Scott, Sasicha Duangkham and May Suriya ruled the roost on this day, coming in first with 61.3.
