Sunday, June 21, Green Valley – Stableford

A fair sized field including two newcomers turned out for our regular Sunday bash at Green Valley. It was with a sense of dismay that we watched a five-ball tee off right in front of us but we saw neither hide nor hair of them again, which goes to show that a well organized five-ball playing ready golf is not necessarily an impediment to the general speed of play.

On the day it was the man on form who prevailed, Phil ‘the Welsh wonder’ Davies with a rock solid 39 points that took the top spot and the day’s honours. Phil was two clear of newcomer Mark Bamber while Eddy ‘the Eagle’ Beilby stood on the third podium step as he edged William Peach on count back, both with fine even par rounds.
After the presentation, George welcomed new members Mark Bamber and his good friend Dave Hewson, both from Norwich.
Monday, June 22, Pattaya C.C. – Stableford
1st Tom Gorey (13) 36pts
2nd Paul Bray (8) 35pts
3rd Peter Henshaw (22) 34pts
The Lewiinski’s gang returned to Pattaya Country Club after several months layoff to take in the newly renovated course. While it was a joy to play on the front nine, the back nine still needs some work, but none of this bothered the Lewiinski’s strong Irish contingent as they filled all the podium places.
Standing atop of the podium was Tom ‘the Irish rover’ Gorey with a best of the day even par round. Tom was trailed in one shot increments by Paul Bray and Peter ‘the silver surfer’ Henshaw and in that order.
Wednesday, June 24, Khao Kheow – Stableford
1st Paul Bray (8) 34pts
2nd Bernard Green (28) 27pts
The Lewiinski’s gang traveled to Khao Kheow to play the A & B layouts and found it to be in pristine condition. But as the scores would indicate, a tough challenge lay ahead of the field.
Lewiinski’s man on form Irishman Paul Bray stood atop the podium for his second pay window visit on the bounce with 34 points. Mike ‘the Welsh Dragon’ Jefferys took the second step on the podium with 28 points and one clear of his good friend Bernard Green.
Friday, June 26, Silky Oak – Stableford
1st Lou Szigligeti (20) 37pts
2nd Gerry Roche (19) 36pts
3rd Dave Hewson (5) 36pts
Lou Zig zag just managed to get ahead of the inform Gerry ‘the Irish rover’ Roche and new man Dave Hewson by a point. He was also the only player to better his handicap on the day with a sound 37 points to claim the day’s top prize. The luck of the Irish held sway in the resulting count back for second.
