PSC Golf from The Growling Swan
Monday, June 8, Mt. Shadow – Stableford
We left the bar in Pattaya in the middle of a downpour but on arriving at Mountain Shadow we were greeted by a dry course with no sign of any rain. There were not too many players at the course other than our contingent.
Playing from the blue tees it seemed to suit some of our players as scores were not too bad and comments at the completion were nothing short of good. The course was in top condition and the greens slow as per the normal.

Mike Gosden took first place with his 40 points while second went to Mark Stapleton two points in arrears and Jim Groves placed third with an even par 36. Colin Stielow beat Denis Steele for fourth spot on the podium by virtue of a count back.
Near pins went to Alex Field on the 5th, Denis Steele on the 8th and the 17th, and Volker Buley on the 15th. Long first putts were sunk by Colin Stielow on the 9th and Dennis Steele on the 18th.

Thursday, June 11, Crystal Bay – Stableford
With 21 eager golfers assembled, the recent sultry weather was with us once again and not a breath of wind was to be found. We played C and A Nines in that order and the course was in good nick and held its own against some, however playing off the yellow tees left room for some high scores.

Ernie Picken made sure he went out with a bang in his last game, taking out A Grade with 44 points, a near pin and a long putt. In second place was Simon Niven, with the always reliable Ebrahim taking third.
Colin Steilow topped B Grade with a very good 48 points, from Dave Fletcher in second and Andrew Allen third.

The Growling Swan also caters to the bowls enthusiasts. Bus transport departs the GS on Wednesdays at 10 AM to play at Cocos on undercover synthetic greens and on Sundays at the same time for open grass bowling at The Retreat.
