Sunday, May 7, St. Andrews – Stableford

1st Colin Davis (20) 37pts

2nd Guido Frish (23) 37pts

3rd John Dearden (26) 35pts

We had 15 players today to try out St Andrews and since all the greens had been cored 3 weeks ago the general opinion was pretty good.  The green-keeper had also cut down the rough as well and although the greens were a bit slow they were not bumpy.  All in all, not bad for the price!

As in many sports, golf can be a game of two halves.  King of the front-nine today was Guido Frish with 21 points while the clear leader on the inward nine was John Dearden with 24.  But the overall on count back went to the Donkey on count back over Guido, both with 37 points each.  The rest of the field were in the low 30’s but otherwise had a nice day.

The near pins were claimed by Guido Frish, John Dearden, Frank Tordeur & Garry Emmett.

Thursday, May 11, Burapha A & B – Stableford

1st Ian Pickles (17) 46pts

2nd Colin Davis (19) 45pts

3rd Guido Frolin (19) 40pts

This was our first time back at Burapha since the last low season.  We had just 9 players today so three 3-balls.  The course was in very good condition with the greens holding and true.

Ian Pickles, in his first game back after a quick trip to Canada, showed no signs of rust and took the day with a stunning round of 46 points.  Almost equally as good was the Donkey who came in second and just one point behind Ian after dropping 2 shots on the last 2 holes.  Guido Frolin had a gallant 21 points on the back-nine but had to settle for third place on 40 overall.

Near pins went to Ian Pickles & Guido Frolin.

Friday, May 12, Mt. Shadow – Stableford

1st Colin Davis (19) 33pts

2nd Aidan Murray (23) 30pts

Just 6 players today for Mountain Shadow and when we got to the course the car park was almost empty.  Soon checked in we got changed it was straight off with a totally empty golf course ahead of us.

We flew around but the course was taking its toll with tricky pin placements on the fast greens.  The first group just got in before the heavens opened up but the second group felt the full force of it for the last 2 holes.

Yet again there was no stopping the Donkey but his score today was just a shadow of Thursday’s effort.  Aidan Murray took second place with 30 points.

Near pins were claimed by the Donkey.
