Jomtien Golf with the IPGC
Monday, March 24, Royal Lakeside – Stableford
A few people think the journey here to play a round of golf is too far to travel but the majority we still had 5 groups of keen golfers here today for the 9.30 tee off time.
Mike Chatt returned the best score of the day, winning division 1 with 40 points, while in his last game with us Jerry McCarthy took second on 39. The Rioja boy Dennis Scougall the ex-telephone box entrepreneur finished third with 38.
Jerry McCarthy, Dennis Scougall and Tim Hake.
Bryan Priestley was the winner in division 2 with 35 points ahead of Steven Cliff in second place on count back over John Walsh, both coming in with 34 points each.
Near pins went to Mike Chatt (3), Dennis Scougall, Bryan Priestley, Burnie Sinclair and John Walsh (2).
There were four birdie ‘2’s today in division 1 with the pot being split by Mike Chatt, Dennis Scougal, and Chris Voller, who had two. There were no ‘2’s in the second division so a rollover to Wednesday.
The numbers are starting to diminish drastically now, even more than last year’s figures and it was Bon Voyage today to Jerry McCarthy and Roar Berger.
Wednesday, March 26, Pattaya C.C. – Stableford
The course here at Pattaya Country Club is still improving slightly each month and this was reflected in the scores today, with Chris Voller playing off 8 and winning division 1 with 39 points. The Luxembourg boy Georges Faber took second with 38 points and in division 2, Burnie Sinclair was the winner with 37 points ahead of Tim Hake in second, one point behind.
Georges Faber birdied the 5th for the only ‘2’ in division 1 and there were none again in division 2 so a double rollover to Plutaluang next Monday.
Friday, March 28, Eastern Star – Stableford
There were a few more out today than Wednesday with eight groups teeing off 15 minutes ahead of schedule. On the drive down here towards Baan Chang the clouds looked very threatening and they hung around for the first four holes before they dispersed and a cool breeze kicked in coming off the coast.
Still playing off 20, Bob Poole topped division 2 today with 41 points. Tony Holehouse came in second with 35 and Jeff Van Uffelen took third after beating Darryl Blair, Ali Dukoney, Glyn Evans and Joe Kubon on a 20/19/18/18/15 back nine count back, all returning scores of 33 points.
In his last game with us before returning to the US, Harry Vincenzi was the winner in division 1 with 38 points, and in the frame again was Dennis Scougall who took second on 34. Mikael Andersson, back playing regular golf again, completed the podium in third with 33.

Darryl Blair birdied the 13th and Bob Poole the 17th to share the four rollover ‘2’s pot in division 2 while in division 1 there is a rollover to next Friday.
The Hua Hin trip has now been finalized for departure on Saturday 17th May for the week.
