Wednesday, June 20, Green Valley – Stableford

The sun decided to hide behind a curtain of cloud for most of the first nine holes, accompanied by a strong breeze, making things a little more difficult, but maintaining a most pleasant temperature.

The wind had no effect on the ladies scores, however, for half of those playing carded a better than par round. Miss Lynn had 12 pars in her round of 39 points but was not on the podium, which also applied to Miss Nu on 40 points losing on a countback to Miss Lak who had 23 points on the way home for third place. Miss Pin was hoping for better than 41 points when she already had 38 standing on the 16th tee, but a delighted Miss Porn, despite three 1-pointers on her card, could not be caught with 43 points to take the honours.

The men could not match these scores for the wind obviously had the better of the encounter. Four players were vying for fourth place on 31 points but Arch Archibald, who had 7 holes for 1 point or less, was the best of this group. Selwyn Wegner stuttered on the front nine with only 15 points but recovered to 34 points and took third place. Auk Engelkes let too many shots get away from him on the back nine and had to settle for second spot on 36 points. Jason Barnett, playing off his 5 handicap, won the day on 37 points.

Two ‘2’s going came from Arch Archibald and Keith Allen.

Friday, June 22, Burapha – Stableford

Burapha A and B loops today and with 5 groups playing we got away on time and were back in the locker room in under 4 hours. The course was in great condition as usual with fast greens and fairways that were great for your second shot.

The scoring was not too bad with 35 points by Rick Culley taking third place. In second spot was Gary Ritchie, playing to his 7 handicap with 36 points, but capturing the line honours was Nicky Shaw, a man who didn’t get much sleep the night before but still managed to conjure up 42 points, to take the win.

There were five ‘2’s, coming from Jason Barnett, Bob Scott, Gary Ritchie, Rick Culley and Ramsay Smith.
