Prayad retains Pattaya Open title

Prayad Marksaeng successfully defended his Singha Pattaya Open title last Sunday, March 29, comfortably recording a four-shot victory for the 435,000 baht first prize.

The 48-year old Thai veteran, who shot an 11-under-par 60 on day three for a one-shot lead, closed with a 67 at Burapha Golf Club.  He finished the 3 million baht tournament on 22 under par.

Thailand’s Piya Swangarunporn took sole possession of second place after shooting a 70 in the second event of the season on the ASEAN PGA Tour.  Piya was also runner up in the Singha Esan Open last month.

Thai amateur Suradit Yongcharoenchai finished two shots further back following a 69 while Panuphol Pittarayat, also from Thailand, birdied the final six holes for a 67 to tie for fourth place.

The Singha Pattaya Open is jointly sanctioned with the All Thailand Golf Tour.

The next event on Tour is the PGM UMW Impian Championship at the Impian Golf & Country Club in Selangor, Malaysia from April 1 to 4.
