PSC Sea-Fishing Reports

Saturday 16th Feb provided ideal conditions for sea-fishing; overcast with a slight breeze and only a little swell.  It also turned out to be another barracuda bonanza, with 8 participants catching 32 of these lovely fish between them.  Everybody caught a few, with Phil and Adrian getting 5 each. Phil also caught a small “Grey”, a few snapper, and many grouper and decent sized pla daeng, so he and Nat went home well pleased with their day’s sport, as did everyone else.

Given the news of such plentiful barracuda, it was 8 very optimistic fishermen who set out on Tuesday 26th, but although the fish were still around, they weren’t biting as eagerly as 10 days previously, and two or three of us didn’t catch any of them.

Nevertheless, a few came aboard and most of us went on to catch a decent quantity of very good-size snapper, as well as a couple of our favourite grey sweetlip cod.  John H was the most successful of the day, with a bag of around 15 kilos.

There are still a few places on our scheduled trips for March, on Tuesday 12th, Saturday 16th and Tuesday 19th, after which the boat is out for its annual lay-up for a couple of weeks.  Bookings can be made via www.pattayasports.org/ or phone John O’Neill on 085 391 7045.
