The Pattaya Sports Club Softball team has announced that on Jan 8th they will be hosting a US Navy team from the USS Abraham Lincoln, which is a nuclear powered aircraft carrier, with 5,680 personnel onboard.
The team has always had a great time when the US Navy is in town and they are looking forward once again to showing the young guns that the guys of Pattaya still have a little pop in their bats and can give them a spirited game.
Softball action from the Pattaya Sports Club ‘big hitters’.
On Sunday, Dec. 18, they added their 4th player to the Big Bats Club, when Ben Reiber earned his membership by using his big stick to hit the roof of the building in left field. With his big blast he joined Diego, John Q and Lefty in the exclusive club. Despite his big hit it wasn’t enough to overcome the consistent batting onslaught of Tyler and John S. of the other team, who both hit for the cycle, which requires a single, double, triple and home run. After their team was up 19 to 1 they backed off so as not to bruise the egos of their opponents.
The Pattaya Sports Club Softball Group plays every Sunday and is always looking for new players and welcomes everybody regardless of age, skill level, experience or time away from the game. We play slow pitch recreational pick-ups games every Sunday at 12 noon and finish about 3 p.m.; show up a bit early to warm-up, and get your name on the lineup.
There are some spare gloves and all the other equipment needed to play. A charge of 40 baht is levied to play which covers field maintenance, bats and balls, ice and all the free water you can drink; other beverages are available at reasonable prices, spectators always welcome as well. So come on out and give it a try!
