A very wet and unfulfilling week started out at Crystal Bay where the scores are usually very good but due to the wetness of the course the best that could be achieved on the day was four over handicap.

We started out in a light but steady rain which soon had everyone looking for the final hole and wondering why they had not just turned over earlier in the day.  All of the field finished but none of them were singing in the showers.

Murray Edwards had a slight smile when he heard the results read out later as he discovered he was the winner following a count back over Digby Hillier, which he had won with a better 18 to 16 as with most of the other returns, the scores markedly improved over the back-nine.

Ben Jackson still had enough energy to win a count-back over Christer Olsson as they went against the norm by scoring worse on their inward halves, Ben taking third with 14 and Christer fourth with 13.

Trevor Schirmer drove well and also scored reasonably to take fifth place just another shot back.

There were no 2s in either of the divisions.

After a washout on Wednesday we were hit by more inclement weather again on Friday as it turned very nasty around about the twelfth hole, with thunder and huge flashes of lightning that kept everyone off the course for over an hour and left the layout completely drenched.  Just three players managed to finish with the rest of the field deciding enough was more than enough.

Peter Skinner returned what was an excellent card in the circumstances to win by five from the other two stalwarts, with Howard Leigh taking second ahead of Paul Davies after winning a count-back with a better 18 to 15.

Once again there were no2s in either of the divisions.
