Sunday, Nov. 15, Green Valley – Stableford

A Flight

1st Pat Regan (15) 37pts

2nd JP Maffray (11) 37pts

3rd A Henderson (12) 33pts

B Flight

1st Gerry Hughes (25) 37pts

2nd Tim Shaw (23) 36pts

3rd Jim Bell (18) 33pts

You cannot fault JP Maffray’s 37 point effort, but it wasn’t as favourably distributed as Co. Dublin star Pat Reagan’s similar total and the latter was left standing on the top of the A Flight podium.  JP did however share the man of the match honours and took the second podium place.  The bronze step also went to a count back as Alistair Henderson and Chris Martin were knotted on 33 points apiece; when the knot was undone it was Alistair who got to stand on the podium while Chris was left you know where and potless.

Sunday winner Pat Regan (left) with Jum.

B Flight was the domain of Ireland’s favourite son Gerry Hughes with his co-man of the match 37 points.  Gerry needed every one of them as Tim Shaw was one adrift with his solid even par round.  Jimmy ‘AK47’ Bell filled the bronze spot as he took a three-way count back over Eddy ‘The Eagle’ Beilby and Peter ‘Don O’Corleone’ Henshaw.  I think you can guess were Eddy and Peter finished up.

Monday, Nov. 16, Pattana B & C – Stableford

A Flight

1st Andrew Byrne (10) 40pts

2nd Gerry Cooney (13) 38pts

3rd Reg McKay (14) 36pts

B Flight

1st Brendan Dolan (20) 34pts

2nd Jim Doran (17) 32pts

3rd Paddy Jordan (21) 31pts

As usual Pattana was in good condition and the greens played medium speed and very true.  It is a pity the bunkers are filled with very light and fluffy sand that makes it very difficult to get out of them, but everyone enjoyed the day’s golf, especially the Irish as they filled most of the podium spots.

Standing on the top spot in A Flight was Co. Offaly gang man “yes they’re back” Andrew Byrne with a sparkling 40 points.  Compatriot Gerry Cooney lifted the silver with a sound 38 points while Scotland’s Reg McKay and Ireland’s Matt Cronin went head to head for third, both tired on even par rounds and when the mud had settled it was Reg who got to fill the final podium spot as Mat was left propping up the bar.

In B Flight the scoring was very average with nobody playing under their handicap.  Paddy Jordan was very surprised that his 31 points was good for the bronze spot, Jim Doran was a shot better off as he lifted the silver but standing proudly on the top of the podium was Brendan Dolan with his flight winning 34 points.

Wednesday, Nov. 18, Khao Kheow – Stableford

A Flight

1st Mat Cronin (16) 38pts

2nd Reg McKay (14) 36pts

3rd Jason Barnett (4) 35pts

B Flight

1st Gerry Cooney (19) 44pts

2nd Caiman Smyth (18) 40pts

3rd Mo Lambkin (18) 40pts

It was off to the fine Khao Kheow for the midweek fixture where B Flight handled the course best as every podium spot was filled with 40 points or more.  Leading the B Flight charge was Ireland’s Gerry Cooney with a blistering man of the match 44 points.  Caiman Smyth held the silver step on the podium but needed the aid of a count back victory over the unlucky Mo Lampkin.

It was Ireland who provided the victor in A Flight once again as Mat Cronin set the pace with a rock solid 37 points.  Scotland’s Reg McKay went one better than Mondays performance as he took the silver with a fine even par round and Jason Barnett and Co. Offaly gangman Andy Byrne were level with 35 points apiece, with Jason getting the nod on count back.

Friday, Nov. 20, Parichat – Stableford

A Flight

1st Mike Allidi (3) 35pts

2nd Dominic Downey (12) 32pts

3rd Matt Doyle (14) 31pts

B Flight

1st Jim Doran (17) 34pts

2nd Mo Lamkin (18) 34pts

3rd Matt Cronin (16) 30pts

C Flight

1st Bob Fagan (24) 44pts

2nd Paul Garvey (24) 35pts

3rd Paddy Jordan (21) 35pts

Parachat Golf Club was the host to the Lewiinski’s mob for the final game of the week and the lads found it in fair condition, being a rather new course.  This course, with so much water, is definitely set up for the low handicapper so it was a pleasant surprise to see the winner come out off the junior flight.  Bob Fagan was the man of the match with a splendid 37 points and he was two clear of Paul Garvey and Paddy Jordan, with the former claiming the silver with his better back nine score.  Paddy was not too concerned as this was his second pay window visit this week.

Skipping up to the premier flight we found Mike Allidi standing atop of the podium with 35 points, excellent scoring off his stingy 3 handicap.  Mike was three strokes clear of Dominic Downey and yet one more of Co. Offaly’s Matt Doyle.

The B Flight winner was determined by another count back as Jim Doran and Mo Lamkin were locked on 34 points; Jim took the gold with a better dispersed back nine score.  Matt Cronin closed the flight on 30 points.
