An excellent showing by Regents International School Pattaya at the recent Federation of British International Schools in Asia (FOBISIA) sports tournament saw the school collect over 30 medals in three days of competition.  The tournament was capped off with a title awarded to the girls’ basketball team, who shone in every match.

The first day saw athletics and swimming take centre-stage and the Regents competitors gave maximum effort to garner nine gold, ten silver and eleven bronze medals as well as a raft of 4th places.

On the second day, the girls’ football team sailed through their round-robin matches only to fall at the final hurdle against Dulwich Suzhou 2-0.  A silver medal was still a fine effort.  The boys’ basketball team had mixed fortunes, but managed to string enough good performances together to take the bronze medal against Uplands Penang.

Finally, the last day saw the boys’ football struggle at first, only to regain their feet and finish with a 3-3 record, just outside the medals.  On the other hand, huge congratulations go to the U15 girls’ basketball team, who are the new FOBISIA champions for 2014/5, their unbeaten streak lasted all the way into the final.

Some of the credit for these results goes down to the investment which the school has made in physical education over the last year, with the support of Nord Anglia Education.  The brand-new all-weather running track and Saturday sports programme are just two of the ways Regents is making sure that sporting excellence is achieved throughout the school.
