After a long, uncertain wait, runners can now begin making plans to compete in the 2019 edition of the popular Pattaya Marathon, scheduled to take place on Sunday, July 21. Following lengthy negotiations with private sector organizations, Pattaya City Hall has confirmed that athletes can now begin to register for the event.
The Pattaya Marathon 2019 will feature race distances of a full marathon (42.195 km) with an 800 baht application fee for up to 1,500 participants, a half marathon (21.100 km) with a 700 baht application fee for up to 2,500 participants, and a quarter marathon (10.550 km) with a 500 baht application fee for 4,000 participants.
In addition there will also be a micro-marathon (5km distance) for the general public with no application fee and medals for the first 2,000 participants to cross the finish line. This race will also feature wheelchair athletes competing in their own separate class.
The full, half and quarter marathons will start and finish at Central Festival Pattaya Beach (Pattaya Beach Road side) while the micro-marathon starts and finishes opposite the Hard Rock Hotel, also on Pattaya Beach Road.
Prize money for the event is listed at 1.25 million baht in total and the race field will be split into relevant age and gender categories to give everyone a fair chance at the prizes.
