As you may have noticed from the listing above, there were only two places on the good ol’ podium today.  The reason being for this is that only two blokes finished!  We started out with a decent field of 16 golfers, then near the turn, the heavens opened up.  Most everyone took shelter, or if you were lucky enough to be near the clubhouse it was in for lunch and see how the weather went.

Fred and Corey kept pluggin’ along, took a break when it got too severe and started right back up again when it let up.  Their perseverance paid off and first and second places were gifted to them today.  We only call off competitions because of an obvious lightning threat, so the message is bide your time and wait it out next time!

Tuesday, Sept. 13, Phoenix Gold (white tees) – Stableford

As we got to The Golf Club it was looking like more of the same from Monday, so the decision was made to call off golf for today.  As it turned out, it cleared up later but you just never know which way those clouds are going to end up.

Thursday, Sept. 15, Pattavia Century (white tees) – Stableford

1st Freddy Graham (19) 39pts

2nd Tom Nettleman (17) 37pts

T3rd Peter Thomas (19) 36pts

T3rd Michael McCluskey (17) 36pts

Finally the skies cleared and that big storm from Taiwan was history.  Pattaya returned to crystal clear blue skies with a bit of a breeze to give us that millionaire’s golf we have been used to getting.  What better place to get things rolling than one of our favourites, Pattavia Century, and even after all that rain, the course was in very good shape.

There was to be a regional pro-tournament here later in the day so the pin positions were much tougher than normal.  That said, we had some good scores out there.  Tied for third place were Mike McCluskey along with Peter Thomas, and both shot to their handicaps.  Both of these guys are usually a threat so keep your paper money safely tucked away when they are on the tee.

Visiting Tom Nettleman showed the locals how to do it and ended up with a 37 for today’s efforts.  Speaking of locals, our own Freddy Graham was in fine form after all that rest earlier this week and an outstanding 39 points on the card gave him an easy win.  Hey Fred, maybe it’s those pins set up for the pros that helped you mate!

Thank you for your support of The Golf Club, and keep it in the fairway!
