PSC golf Bunker Boys @ The Bowling Green

Monday. July 23, Mountain Shadow – Stableford

The Mountain Shadow course is not at its best at the moment, with the fairways surprisingly dry and hard, but the greens are still in good shape and as always, fast and tricky.

As usual everyone struggled to play to their handicap, and the best performer on the day was Barry Murnin, with a modest 33 points.  Paul Edgar came in second place to take a one point lead in the Golfer of the Month, but unfortunately (in a remarkable display of bad timing) he was saying goodbye today, thereby leaving the way open for rivals Barry Murnin and John Graham.  A good lesson learned Paul – plan your visits a bit better in the future, and make sure you’re here ‘til the end of the month!

A good week for Tony Robbins, making a welcome return to form. A good week for Tony Robbins, making a welcome return to form.

1st Barry Murnin (15) 33pts

2nd Paul Edgar (17) 31pts

3rd Gerry Cooney (15) 30pts

Near pins:  PJ Redmond and Paul Edgar

Wednesday, July 25, Plutuluang W&N – Stableford

We were saying farewell to Richard Baldotto today, who played one game less than he planned during this visit after being left behind at the Bowling Green last Friday.  Unfortunately Richard wasn’t able to sign off in style, and only Tony Robbins bettered his handicap on the day.

It was a slow round today (as often happens here, as you can usually bet than somewhere ahead there will be a six-ball) and once again the greens have returned to their normal slow pace, but most golfers agree it’s still well worth the occasional visit.

Peter Habgood defeated Barry Murnin on the count back to take second place, whilst Tony Robbins and Gerry Cooney shared the near pins between the two of them.

1st Tony Robbins (14) 37pts

2nd Peter Habgood (19) 32pts

3rd Barry Murnin (14) 32pts

Near Pins: Gerry Cooney (2) and Tony Robbins (2)

Friday, July 27, Eastern Star – Stableford

We’re making regular visits to Eastern Star recently because the course is in good shape, and always presents a good test of golf.  Our aspiring Golfer of the Month got off to a great start today, putting three balls in the water on the 1st hole!

The course was quiet and the round progressed at a good pace.  For the second game in a row Tony Robbins scored 37 points to take the honours – those two scores should be good enough to get him back to his regular handicap – after all the hard work he has put in bringing it up over the past couple of months.

1st Tony Robbins (14) 37pts

2nd Geoff Williams (18) 36pts

3rd John Graham (10) 35pts

Near Pins:  Tony Robbins and Lee Butler(2).

Barry Murnin has taken the lead in the Golfer of the Month race, inching ahead of the departed Paul Edgar, but with one more game to play, he’s only one point ahead of John Graham, and can still be beaten. Should make for an interesting game on Monday!

Note:  The Bunker Boys are a PSC affiliated golf society who now play out of the Bowling Green on Soi X-Zyte between Pattaya 3rd Road and Soi Buakhaow.  We play three times per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, so if you enjoy a fun day out, and a friendly but competitive golf competition why not come and join us.

We meet at the Bowling Green at 9 a.m. for breakfast and transportation, and new players with valid handicaps are always welcome.  For more information call Dave on 087 146 9978, email [email protected].
