PSC Golf from The Growling Swan

Monday, August 22, Mt. Shadow – Stableford

Well we cater for the big crowds and we cater for the small crowds, only 10 golfers today but it makes no difference to us as it is all the same and the competition is still strong!

Playing from the blue tees the scores were not quite up to standard and having the fairways mowed but the clippings being left made it a little difficult to find ones ball.  Many players complained that lost balls appeared to be the order of the day – the next group to play Mt. Shadow will benefit with balls being offered up for sale.

A good course to play but I think that they are going to find it difficult to compete with some of the better courses offering super prices.  I think that they need to pull their socks up and start looking as to what is being offered.

On a day when the scorers were never in danger, Glenn Henriksen (on the eve of departing) took the honors from The Colonel (Alan Sanders), making sure that the podium is the place to stand on his first outing this trip.

Thursday, August 25, Pattavia – Monthly Mug

Twenty nine punters gathered in Soi Chaiyapoon eager to take advantage of the great offer put on by Pattavia G.C.

To say the day was warm was an understatement, little or no breeze made it even more uncomfortable.  The course was in good nick, with the greens playing the way they normally do but I must admit they are starting to look tired and sometimes playing that way.

Playing from the white tees we played two divisions and being monthly mug day we were playing stroke (this sorting the men from the boys).

A Flight gave us our mug winner, Maurice Roberts, with a very tidy net 67.  Second in that division was Mike Johns while Denis Steele and ‘The Coach’ Mike Gosden filled the other spots.

B Flight saw Alan ‘The Colonel’ Sanders with a good score of net 68 to give him 1st place and only 1 shot away from The Monthly Mug.  Second in the flight was Rona Carungay, who is playing some good golf at the moment, with Andrew Allen and Bernie McCart filling 3rd & 4th.

Note: The GS is a friendly golf outlet and caters for and encourages all golfers male and female to have a hit at any of our weekly outings.  We generally play Mondays and Thursdays at one of the many fine golf courses in and around Pattaya.  Please contact Peter Grey if you are interested on 0861 503086.

The Growling Swan also caters to the bowls enthusiasts.  Bus transport departs the GS on Sundays at 10 AM to play at The Retreat.  The cost including return bus transport, bowling fees and a hot lunch is less than 400 baht so great value for a day out.
