PSC Golf from Colin’s Bar

Sunday, Nov 22, Silky Oak – Stableford

1st Gerry Roche (18) 44pts

2nd Mogens Melander (27) 43pts

3rd Max Bracegirdle (25) 38pts

A couple of late cancellations meant only 3 groups out today.  In the first group out, Gerry, Max and Geoff got off to a wonder start with 22, 21 & 20 points respectively on the front nine.  On the inward half Max and Geoff tailed off somewhat but Gerry powered home with a run of 4 pars and a birdie to leave him atop the podium with a fantastic 44 points.

Mogens Melander, playng in the final group and on his favourite track, raced out to 23 points on the front nine but couldn’t quite sustain his form and had to settle for a very respectable 43 points and second place.

Gerry Roche.

The Donkey, going through the worst golfing slump of his life, plodded round to 31 points but did manage to get the only ‘2’ of the day.

Monday, Nov. 23, Pattavia – Stableford

1st Oliver Orth (8) 35pts

2nd Peter Hynard (16) 34pts

3rd Colin Davis (18) 34pts

The weather was fine on Monday, the Pattavia course looked in great condition and it was very quiet so we had a quick round.

Ollie Orth, from Germany, topped the podium today with a solid 35 points while Peter Hynard, as usual, talked his way round the course to finish with 34 and second spot, edging out the Donkey on a count back.

Wednesday, Nov. 25, Burapha A & B – Medal

Another joint venue today with the Phantom Bar, 26 players today in total so we got the special green fee rate of 1100 baht for this quality course which we will play every other week all high season.

The course was in excellent condition with the greens firming up and running fast.  It took a little time for the scribe to get used to them but some people had no problem as it showed in the scores.

We welcomed back Peter Terry, one half of the Crafty Cockneys, and he duly shot a net 69 to take the A flight honours.  He was followed in by Walter Baechli who dazzled us all, first with his outfit and then with his golf as he returned a net 71.

Christen Boysen, with his new Scotty Cameron putter, finished third with net 72, just beating playing partner Phil Davies on count back.

Leading the way home in B flight was Mogens Melander with a very good net 65 to take the monthly medal by a good margin.  Rolling back the years were Peter Wilson (net 70) and John Knight (at the age of 84) on net 71, who took second and third respectively.

Three golfers shared the ‘2’s pot, Phil Davies Nat Rukkid & Kenny Alotsson.

The presentation was held back at Colin’s Bar with free food and was enjoyed by all.

Friday, Nov. 27, Mt. Shadow – Stableford

1st Pat Reagan (15) 32pts

2nd John Harrison (16) 32pts

3rd Tore Eliassen (18) 29pts

We teed off on time on a course in excellent condition with the fairways firming up on a cloudless, sunny day.

Despite the great playing conditions it seemed like everyone had a bad day and the scores were nothing to write home about.

Barry Copestake didn’t make the podium but had the consolation of bagging the only ‘2’ of the day.
