Tuesday, Dec. 3, The Emerald – Stableford

The Emerald course is currently playing well; the fairways are on the mend and the greens are building a bit of pace again after all the recent bad weather.

Today we welcomed a few players that haven’t been around for a while; Gerry from Australia brought along Tash and Greg, both first timers and they told me they had a great day.  Jason from England was back again after a year away working and for someone that doesn’t play at home, he played really well and was smacking that driver about 270 yards on average, some much longer.

The overall winner today was Rocky Jenks who is starting to get his game back after a few years off.  His 83 Gross today off a 24 handicap, netted him an amazing 48 points.  Well played mate!

Thursday, Dec. 5, Green Valley – Stableford

Playing on the King’s Birthday holiday, as expected, the course was very busy but we moved at a good pace all day.  The course is in great condition, fairways are lush and the greens were fast.  I personally struggled with the greens today, as did most of the players.  In my group, I’ve never seen so many duffed chips or three putts in a round before, unfortunately many of those were mine!

We welcomed a couple of first time starters today; John from Manchester and Paul from Philadelphia, both really nice guys.  I enjoyed walking with Paul, a 71 year old retired doctor and psychiatrist, not for analysing my warped mind but chatting with Paul about his world travels, even golfing experiences where he has caddied for Lee Trevino, Arnold Palmer and known many of the top line golfers over the years.

Poor John today threw his back out after 14 holes and could barely walk.  Look after yourself mate and I hope to see you out here again soon.

I can’t really say who the winner was but I think Dave Gattenholf would have taken the prize.  He’s probably Pattaya’s worst chipper, followed closely by me, but he can play quite well on occasions.
