PSC Golf from The Growling Swan

Monday, Feb. 22, Rayong C.C. – Stableford

Twenty nine golfers were on time and more than eager to descend upon, and out play Rayong Country Club.  Many of us were playing here for only the second time in the last year and a half.

On entering the grounds it stands out that this course needs some work done.  I think we all agree that the course is quite good with the layout being tough but good (probably too many bunkers for my liking).  The facilities are not that flash however and the club house is so far out of date.  This place really needs an injection of cash to keep up with the times.  It is priced as to what it should be.

(From L to R) Roy Dayton with Peter Bass (Asia Backpackers Pattaya), Pierre Cere and Olivia holding D-For the Charity Dog.

The golf gave some good results with 3 count backs out of the 2 divisions.  Martin Todd led the way, beating Fred Cuypers by a solitary point, with Mike Gosden and Jim Groves coming in a further 2 points in arrears.

Yet another count back decided Division 2, with Kae Dayton edging Alain Taddei and Frank Waterhouse and John Anderson also had to be separated on count back for third and fourth.

Thursday, Feb. 25, Crystal Bay – Monthly Mug/Stroke

Three busloads of eager golfers, 27 players in all, gathered today to test their skill at Crystal Bay.  The weather was great with a nice breeze in attendance and the course was in good condition, and the greens were quite difficult on both nines.

We took up the challenge from the white tees on courses B & A.  This is the first time in 2 years that we have taken on the B course and we were not disappointed.  What a great 9, this scribe had forgotten just how good it was.

Two Divisions were the order of the day with Pierre Cere taking out Div 1 from Steve Younger with the narrowest of margins.

Division 2 went to today’s Monthly Mug winner Roy Dayton with a very good score of net 66, leaving daylight between he and the other punters.  Dave Fletcher came in second six shots behind the leader.

Div. 1

1st Pierre Cere (11) net 72

2nd Steve Younger (13) net 73

3rd Glen Hendrikson (11) net 76

4th Patrick Engles (10) net 76

Div 2

1st Roy Dayton (21) net 66
