The US$500,000 Royal Cup golf tournament, currently being played at the Phoenix Gold Golf and Country Club in Pattaya from December 28-31, features the top players from the Asian Tour and Thailand.

The 78-man field with no cut consists of the leading players from the final standings on the Asian Tour and Thailand Order of Merits with the winner of the Royal Cup earning exemption status on the Asian Tour.

Chanya Swangchitr, President of Phoenix Gold Golf and Country Club said in the build up to the event, “The Royal Cup is to glorify His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun and is an opportunity for us to host another great international tournament and welcome top golfers from Asia and Thailand.”

Josh Burack, CEO of the Asian Tour expressed his support for the Royal Cup as he believes it will further promote golf in Thailand and showcase the talents from the Kingdom.

“Thailand has the honour of having the most number of players on the Asian Tour final 2017 Order of Merit.  13 players finished inside the top-60 on the money list with Phachara Khongwatmai in third position.  This event will allow the galleries to catch their local heroes in action and is a welcome reward for all the players with the guaranteed prize money during this festive season,” he said.

Spectators are invited to come along and enjoy the final three days of action.  Entrance is free of charge.  For more information please visit website www.asiantour.com.
