My loyal readers will be pleased to hear that I have returned from my six week pilgrimage back to England.  So now I am back in the land of the everlasting sun and the weather, so I hear, has been extremely taxing, which seems to have been “more of the same” because it was pretty damned hot the week I left back at the beginning of April.

Tuesday, June 2, Bangpakong – Stableford

On Tuesday the TRGG got the golfing week underway with a trip over to the ever immaculate Bangpakong where everybody normally has a good round.  So it therefore came as a bit of a surprise to see that nobody bettered their handicap on the day.

Tim Dalton kept his banana shaped drives somewhat under control and stormed home in the lead with 35 points to take the top spot.  Jimmy Cooper seems to have got his best golf game back together and he dropped into second place, just beating newly re-arrived returnee Neil Bramley on count back.

3rd Neil Bramley (8) 33pts

Wednesday, June 3, Burapha – Stableford

The TRGG headed over to Burapha (C and D courses) on Wednesday and it was nearly a case of “as you were”, with second and third places being taken once again by Jim Cooper and Neil Bramley with 37 and 36 points respectively.  However, in this instance first place went to another “newly returned to Pattaya” member, our old friend Jim Cleaver, who saw off the opposition by scoring 38 points.

Friday, June 5, Eastern Star – Stableford

On Friday the TRGG brought their “strenuous” week to a close with a visit to Eastern Star and it turned out to be the lowest turnout of the week (obviously the hot weather had taken its toll), so it came as no surprise that one of the Thai locals stepped to the fore.

Rungratree Puangsal, a lady of this parish, saw off the remaining band of wilting farangs and walked off with first prize by a country mile.  Her 38 points was far too good for the Aussie pair of Bob Cannon, who came second on 33, and Roger Wilkinson, who was third on 32.

2nd Robert Cannon (19) 33pts

Good luck to all you golfers for the coming week and if you would like to play a round of golf with the TRGG, please phone Fergus Brennan on 086 056 7019 or pop into the Ned Kelly Bar in Soi Lengkee and add your name to the weekly lists which are posted on the notice board.
