The Backyard Golf Society
It was a battle of the heavyweights for the Backyard golfers’ outing at Emerald last Friday, July 17. It is not often that we see 40 points scored in our small group, but on this occasion we had 2 players over that mark. Coming off his 1-over 73 gross off the stick the previous week and shooting 41 this time around, Mina Mills could be forgiven for feeling hard done by, but with a great score of 43 points Russell “He’s a Victorian” stole the top prize.
Russell (centre) celebrates his win with the staff at Blue Sky Bar.
Mina did however win the near-pin gong this time around on the par 3, 15th hole.
Russell was the major winner in the skins with 8, The Quiet Man won 4, Irish John won 3, Mina won 2 and we have 1 rollover to next week.
We have temporarily lost The Impregnator on his European sojourn and with Foos yer Doos apparently able to raise his wee Jockonese noggin off the pillow in the morning it was a quick round in ideal conditions. The weather is fantastic for golf at the moment but it is clear most courses are crying out for the delayed wet season rains.
