Fourteen enthusiastic golfers departed The Swan for the trip up the highway to Greenwood Golf Club.  This is such a great course and had this have been a Thursday, I think our numbers would have been larger.

Bus chatter was about the weather and the condition of the course, given the rain we had had.  Fifty minutes later our questions were answered, it was perfect as you would expect.  We played courses C & A from the front tees and the course was in good condition considering the rain, with the greens also playing true.  The weather was on our side with no sign of rain and it became quite warm as the day went on.

With the numbers we played 1 division with 3 places and all novelties were in play.  Tony Ryan greeted the judges with a very impressive score of 41 points only 1 point ahead of his mate and travelling partner Kevin Kennedy.  Third spot was filled by Paul Smith a further 6 points behind.

Thursday, April 5, Eastern Star – Stableford

1st Denis Steele (15) 39pts

2nd Jayson Schembri (20) 37pts

Near Pins: 6th Denis Steele, 13th Troy Pickford, 17th Glenn Henricksen.

Long Putts: 9th Bernie McCart, 18th Bernie McCart.

It was not what you would call a large gathering to take on Eastern Star Golf Club, but two late Pull Outs made the numbers a little shy.

The Course was, from all reports, in very good nick. We choose to play lift clean and place as there had been some rain over the last few days. We played from the Yellow tees and the weather was quite warm with a cool breeze affording some welcome relief on the front 9 but a little later there was no breeze at all and conditions became.
