PSC Golf from The Growling Swan

Monday, July 18, Mt. Shadow – Stableford

It well may be “The Rain In Spain” but it is definitely “Lorraine In Pattaya.”  As it turned out we had sixteen eager golfers wishing to chance their luck at the ever popular Mountain Shadow.  The weather was on the side of the golfers, so an enthusiastic bunch hit the road to see what would come of the day’s event.

Stableford was the order of the day with the gents hitting from the blue tees and our only lady participant hitting from the red tees.

The course was in good nick, recent rains had added to what I think is a good course in fine condition.  The slick greens held their own as they usually do.

With only the one flight today it was open to all and everybody had a chance.  Lorraine Percy took the opportunity to edge out Mashi Kaneta (via a count back) and take top spot.  Third also went to a count back with Mike (the coach) Gosden holding off Ebrahim to take the final spot on the podium.

1st Lorraine Percy (32) 36pts

2nd Mashi Kaneta (16) 36pts

3rd Mike Gosden (17) 33pts c/b

4th Ebrahim Al-Ansari (16) 33pts

Near Pins: #5 Alex Field, #8 Martin Kempton, #15 Mashi Kaneta.

Long Putts: #9 Ebrahim, #18 Tony Cook

Thursday, July 21, Burapha – Stableford

After a night and early morning of heavy rain and storms, a field of 25 golfers headed out to Burapha in overcast conditions.  The rain cleared just in time as we teed off but with no sign of any breeze it was quite humid.

Course A followed by B was played, with the ‘pick, clean and place’ rule enforced due to overnight rain.  The course had recently hosted a professional tournament, thus the rough was very thick and the greens quite fast.

A Grade was won by Sal Brizzi with an excellent 38 point score, off his low handicap of 4.  Denis Steele was only one behind Sal with 37 points to fill second place, with Greg Proctor three shots behind to be placed third.

B Grade was taken out by way of a count back by Andrew “Turtle” Allan who scored the win from Jayson Schembri, both with 38 points.  Andrew never had a wipe, and said it was probably his best round ever.  Another count back saw Sandy Leiper claim third spot with 31 points, from Lindsay Slender, whose 2 wipes on the last 2 holes would not have helped!

A Flight (0-21)

3rd Greg Proctor (17) 34pts
