PSC Golf from The Growling Swan

Thursday, May 5, Pattavia – Stableford

Special thanks must go to Pattavia GC!  We were due to play Burapha this day but 2 days prior, when calling the course to book a caddy, I was advised that Thursday was a public holiday and we would have to pay holiday rates: 2,400 baht all up.  I rang around and was quoted 1,350 baht all in at Pattavia,

Two buses were loaded and left the Growling Swan a little earlier than the scheduled 8.30 am departure time and all golfers happy with the change of venue and of course the price.  Adding to that the trip wasn’t as bad as it normally is – one thinks “The 331” has improved!

(L to R) Peter Bye with Sal Brizzi and Bill Stienmann.

The weather was as hot as one could expect for this time of the year, with little or no breeze.  The condition of the course was as good as always and the lack of recent rain was not evident.  The greens lived up to their reputation and were somewhat difficult to read and play.  Thank God for caddies!

Sal Brizzi returned from a spell in Australia and showed he was not going to mess about as he posted 38 points to set the pace on what turned out to be a good day for scores.  Second place went to a count back, with Kaguo taking it from Alex Field.  Then another count back separated 3 players for the last 2 places on the podium.

1st Sal Brizzi (6) 38pts

2nd Kaguo (23) 37pts

3rd Alex Field (18) 37pts

4th Peter Bye (15) 35pts

5th Bill Stienmann (12) 35pts

Near Pins: 4th Rita Zoebelli, 7th Kaguo, 13th Sal Brizzi, 17th Bill Stienmann.

Long Putts: 9th Alex Field, 18th Cassa Rifkin

Note: The GS is a “friendly” golf outlet and caters for and encourages all golfers, young and old, male or female to have a hit on any of our weekly outings.  We generally play Mondays and Thursdays at one of the many fine golf courses in and around Pattaya. Please contact Peter Grey if you are interested in playing on 0861 503086

The Growling Swan also caters to the bowls enthusiasts. Bus transport departs the GS on Sunday mornings at 10 am for open grass bowling at The Retreat. The cost including return bus transport, bowling fees and a hot lunch is about 350 baht, so great value for a day out!
