Monday, Sept. 11, Phoenix – Stableford

Phoenix today with perfect weather for golf and with just 4 groups playing we were away on time in a nice breeze.  The course was in fantastic condition with the greens nice and fast.

Playing the Mountain and Oceans loops, the scores were good and there was a count-back on 37 points for the minor places, with Capt Bob being relegated to fourth spot, third going to John Anderson and second to Gerard Lambert.  Top spot on the podium was reserved for Miss Sasicha who returned a fine total of 40 points.

Wednesday, Sept. 13, Green Valley – Stableford

Rain hit the golfers today as we played Green Valley.  Everyone got drowned but the ladies played right through and all put their cards in.  It was a different thing for the lads who only submitted 7 cards out of 17 starters.

In the ladies division Miss Tan placed fourth with 33 points while Miss Eng edged out birthday girl Miss Sa for the flight silver on a count-back after they both scored 35 points overall.  Top spot went to Miss Sasicha with 36 points.

Sandy Chapo took third place in the men’s competition with 31 points, second went to Bob Newell with 37 and his good mate Bobby Young claimed the day’s honours with 39 points.

There was only one ‘2’, coming from Bob Newell.

Friday, Sept. 15, Burapha – Stableford

Burapha on Friday and it was winter rules with ‘lift clean and place’ in play.  It was certainly needed as where the ball landed it stopped and was usually covered in mud.  Apart from that the course was in great condition with fast greens that were not affected by the overnight storm.

It is not very often you have a count back for all the places but that’s what happened today with four players all on 36 points.  John Anderson finished top of the heap and was followed up the podium steps respectively by Rick Culley, Chris Dodd and Sandy Chapo.

There was only one ‘2’, coming from A.J. Beasley.
