Monday, Nov. 30, Pattana – Stableford

This course was looking even greener than our last visit three weeks ago and today we were allocated the B and C nines, which made a pleasant change.

It was a 10-16 cut in the two divisions and Don Head returned the best score of the day, winning division 2 with 39 points.  Norman McKinnon came in with 34 to take second and Cliff Elliott placed third with 32.

Dennis Scougall topped division 1 standings with 38 points, Terry Madsen was second on 35 and in third place one point behind was Chris Voller.

Near pins went to (Div 1) Dave Horne, Jerry McCarthy (2) and Terry Madsen, and (Div 2) Don Head, Colin James and Miss Nut (2).

Jerry McCarthy birdied B7 for the only ‘2’ in division 1 and in division 2, Colin James and Miss Nut both birdied C7.

Wednesday, Dec. 2, Pattaya C.C. – Stableford

A slightly quicker journey these days using Chaiyapruek 2 rather than the normal Sukhumvit route and we arrived 45 minutes early but were allowed to tee off 30 minutes ahead of schedule.

Dennis Scougall.Dennis Scougall.

There were many good remarks after nine holes today regarding the condition of the course, the fairway’s and the greens, but after the next nine it was a different story, there was no comparison to the front nine with many sanded and cored greens and renovated fairways.

We had an identical cut as of Monday and Dennis Scougall was still on form, winning division 1 with 39 points.  Per Forsberg came in second just one point behind on 38 and in third place was Terry Madsen with 34.

Cliff Elliott played his best round since his return and won division 2 with 38 points, one ahead on Paul Hartley in second while Paul Sturgeon was third with 35.

Near pins were claimed by (Div 1) Per Forsberg, Arthur Hancock, Dave Howden and Iain Walsh, and (Div 2) Steve Harris (2) and Paul Sturgeon.

There were no ‘2’s in division 1 so a rollover to Pleasant Valley next Monday and in division 2 Paul Sturgeon birdied the 12th.

Friday, Dec. 4, Eastern Star – Stableford

We were one person short today for three divisions but there were still nine groups out with the exact cut as of the rest of the week.

Max Wilson returned the best score of the day to win division 2 with 41 points.  Norman McKinnon came in second with 37 points and Tony Thorne beat Darryl Blair 20/16 on a back-nine count back for third after they both scored 36 overall.

Chris Voller’s 38 topped division 1 scoring, with arch rival Pete Sumner losing out by one point in second place.  Fighting for third place was Bill Bertram who edged Dave Horne 19/17 on the back nine after they both returned scores of 36 points.

Near pins went to (Div 1) Bill Bertram, Paul Butler, Jerry McCarthy and Chris Voller, and (Div 2) Paul Hartley, Norman McKinnon and Walter Weber.

Bill Bertram birdied the 6th and Dennis Scougall the 13th in division 1 in the ‘2’’s and in division 2 there will now be an amazing three rollovers here at Eastern Star next Friday.
