PSC Golf from Cafe Kronborg
Thursday, Feb. 15, Silky Oak – Scramble
Cafe Kronborg had its first scramble competition of the year at Silky Oak on Thursday 15th Feb. This took on the now standard format of a blind draw deciding the teams of 4 (or 3) people, with 2 from the A flight and 2 (or 1) from the B flight. The draw took place in the Kronborg with great anticipation, everyone crowding round and lots of people having a go at drawing out the teams. Once the draw was completed the teams looked really even and no firm favourite could be identified.
As it happens, this turned out to be the tightest scramble competition yet, with only 4 shots separating the 7 groups. No team managed to break net 60 and the 3 winning teams all had a gross 71, the placings being decided by application of the handicaps.
The three balls faired best this time taking 1st and 2nd place, although only half a shot separated the 3 winning groups. The winners were Henning Olsen, Kenneth Madsen and Fred Tam with a net 60.7 off their handicap of 10.3. Second were Ronnie Ratte, Kjeld Jorgensen and Birgit Jorgensen (10.0) with a net 61.0 and in third place were Brian Gabe, Carole Kubicki, Torben Sorensen and Karen Brown (9.8) with a net 61.2.
Near pins went to Ronnie Ratte, Peter Bygballe, Lotte Boskof, Kenneth Madsen and Henry Wong.
It was a fun day enjoyed by all. Everyone, rightly so, had the feeling of being in contention, which made it even more enjoyable. We have booked the revenge of the Scramblers in early March, returning to Silky Oaks for more fun and games.
