Phoenix Gold – Stableford

Phoenix was in great condition and with 6 groups playing we got away right on time and had no holdups on the way round.  We played our favourite nines in Lakes and Ocean but only two of the male players managed to hit their handicaps.

A.J. Beasley took fourth spot with 36 points, one shot better was Dave Bramley in third and then it was the ladies, with Mis Sasicha taking second spot with a fine 40 points, only being beaten on a count-back by Miss Julie.

There were three ‘2’s, coming from John Anderson, A.J. Beasley and Richard Steadman.

Wednesday, Jan. 31,
Green Valley – Monthly Medal

Green Valley today and we had a large group including 25 ladies playing in the Haven Consultants monthly medal sponsored by Brian Chapman.

There were some very good scores today and the ladies results were fantastic, with Miss Sa coming in fifth place with a net 71.  Miss Poopay took fourth with a net 70, Miss Kran was in third spot with a net 69, and even Miss Noodle’s net 65 was only good enough to give her the silver.  Edging her out of top spot was Miss Yen who had a day to remember with a stunning net 63.  There were only two 2s, coming from Miss Lynn and Phin.

In the men’s tournament the scoring wasn’t so good apart from one player.  Peter LeNoury took fourth place on a count back with a net 74, third went to Jerry Grocott with a net 73, and second to Alan Beck with a net 72.  But line honours went to Sel Wegner with a fine 78 off the stick to record 65 net, a great score.  There were three ‘2’s, coming from Colin Goon, Jim Brackett and Alan Beck.

Miss Yen (left) was the ladies monthly mug winner.

Burapha A & B nines were the challenge today and the course was in great condition with fast greens and lush fairways, but the rough was something else again if you got into it.

The scoring today was very good and there was a three-way count-back between Mal Roberts, Arch Armstrong and Brian Scott for third place, all on 36 points with Arch getting the nod for the bronze.  In second was Auke with 37 points and line honours went to Jerry Grocott with 40. There were only two 2s, with Arch Armstrong and Mal Roberts splitting the pot.
