Monday, Sept. 14, Pattana A & B – Stableford
After some overnight rain we expected Pattana to be somewhat wet as we headed off from the Phantom Bar a few minutes before our scheduled 8.30am departure time. With a last minute withdrawal due to illness we were left with 3 groups and arrived at the course after a 47 minute drive. We were granted our request to play the “A” nine so A & B it was and after presenting ourselves at the A1 tee we had to wait for a couple of groups to tee off but we managed to get our first group away right on time at 10.00am.

The groups ahead were playing the 4-person scramble format which we thought would be fairly quick, but we soon found out it was the opposite and we were waiting on almost every shot. The weather was great, not too hot with a nice breeze and the golf course was in very good condition although quite wet after the overnight rain but we declared before the start that it was to be preferred lies on the fairways. It was a very slow round due to the groups ahead and our round was completed in four hours & thirty five minutes.
With a fine 38 points (76 off the stick on the par 73 combination) the winner was Neil Skilton, with Tony Cook in second spot after a fine 37 points and third place went to John Pierrel who scored 34.

Due to the horrendous weather conditions in the Pattaya region the week, the games on Wednesday at Khao Kheow and Friday at Plutaluang were cancelled.
Note: The Phantom Golf Society welcomes golfers of any persuasion – low & high handicappers alike, female golfers and beginners. We generally play Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays, meeting at The Phantom Bar in Soi Buakhow at 8.00 am with transport departing at 8.30 am.
