Eleven players made their way to this scenic golf course which was in superb condition with the greens a little slow resulting in some excellent scores from the higher handicap players. Of course our Silver Surfer, P J Redman, had a huge advantage with the silver tees a good 1000 yards shorter than the regular tees. However, his game was impeccable with all drives on the fairway and good approach shots, but please don’t mention his putting. Both Les and Jimmy bettered their handicaps and are slowly moving up the GOM point tally.

Wednesday, June 15 Greenwood white tees Stableford

1st Blair (Skinny) Newton (28) 43 pts

2nd Jimmy Carr (17) 40

3rd Mike Johns (16) 35

Near Pins: Geoff Cox (2), Geoff Parker.

A great turnout of seventeen players for our fixture at this consistently good course with good grass coverage and fine greens.

Our winner, Skinny Newton, had his maiden win with the Bunker Boys after 20 years membership and he did it in style scoring 28 pts on the front nine. Jimmy Carr couldn’t believe he had lost out with his 40 pts and, to add insult to injury, his handicap was cut after having two top three finishes without a trip to the winner’s circle.

Friday, June 17 Mountain Shadow blue tees Stableford

1st Les Hall (24) 40 pts

2nd Mike Lloyd (17) 37

3rd Sean Murphy (17) 35

Near Pins: Mike Johns, Sean Murphy, Mashi Keneta (2).

Eleven players returned to Mountain Valley to check out how the recent rains had affected the course and were pleased to note the improvement in ground coverage with bare patches rapidly disappearing and consistent greens. The rough also benefiting from the rains made wayward shots hard to find.

Les Hall has had a welcome return to form with a win and second on his most recent outings. Welcome back to Mike Lloyd who is here on a short trip and managed to be in the prizes on his first game.
