Cafe Kronborg played at Plutaluang on Monday, with the North and West courses being the challenge for the day.  The practice green gave a clue as to the high speed of the greens and ignoring this would be costly.  The non-believers had many three putts and the slow pace of the South and East greens was yearned for by many in our group.

Back in the clubhouse the cards showed the difficulty of the task today, with only 2 people beating their handicap and only 2 more matching theirs.

The A Flight winner was Hans Collett with a sterling 39 points, the score of the day. Second and third place was decided on count-back with 2 players having 36 points.  Richard Kubicki was second with a massive 24 points on the back, only dropping 2 shots to par on the back 9.  Ty Andersen had his best round of the season so far and was third, losing out on second with a count-back of 19 points.  Peter Bygballe took fourth spot with 35 points, relegating Rob Brown to the also rans on another count-back.

Torben Sorensen had another good day in the B Flight and took top spot with 37 points, the only other player to beat their handicap.  Second place was taken by Kai Aabling with a solid 35 points, another regular in the winners’ enclosure.  Third and fourth spots were decided on count-back with 2 players having 33 points; Gordon Baird, with his countback of 19 points beating Kurt Sandgaard’s 17.

The Greenwood course was in pretty good condition but back in the clubhouse the cards showed that most players had been bamboozled by the speed of the greens.

The A Flight winner was Kenneth Madsen with the score of the day, a strong 38 points.  Kenneth’s game has recently been bubbling under and he was predicted as a possible winner.  Richard Kubicki was second with a solid 35, duplicating Monday’s podium position.  Third and fourth places went to count-back; both players having 34 points, both being called Kjeld and both playing off an 18 handicap.  Kjeld Ravn took third with a count-back of 18 over Kjeld Jorgensen’s 17 points.

In the B Flight two ladies had the best score of the flight, both with 33 points.  Impressive because the ladies tees were less than 400 yards shorter than the yellow tees the men played off.  Winning with a count-back of 16 was Carole Kubicki while Ulla Ravn was second with a count-back of 14.  Rejoining us for the first time in a couple of years and coming third with 32 points was Tinzano Dalpastro. No write up would be complete without a mention of Torben Sorensen who came fourth with 31.
