Blue sky greeted the Growling Swan starters at Pattavia on Monday.  All punters were taken by surprise on entering the plantation as it appeared that a major traffic accident had taken place involving a large truck and several cars.  As I turned out they were shooting a movie!

Glenn Smith.
Glenn Smith.

The weather was a tad sticky initially, but the reliable breeze helped keep tempers cool for some, as the very slick greens certainly caught out most.  One golfer reported to me that the greens were treacherous – no surprise that it his first trip to Pattavia!

Mike Gosden joined us today to have a leisurely cruise around the course and it won’t be long till we have ‘The Coach’ out swinging a club.  Good on you Mike!

We played from the white tees and although the scores were not fantastic they were all very close.  The course was somewhat crowded and that is due to the fact that although it was a government holiday we paid normal prices.  It may have slowed us down some but we must commend the golf club for not doing as others do, and that’s trying to milk us at every opportunity!

The sole flight saw Glenn Smith rise above the rest to take out the day’s comp with a healthy score of 34 points, two ahead of his nearest opponent Denis Steele who beat our third place-getter Steve Younger by a further 2 points.  Quite ironic we had 3 players on 29 and another 3 on 28.  As I said, scores were close.
