PSC Golf from The Outback Golf Bar
Monday, Dec. 7, Burapha – Stableford
1st Kim Danboise (15) 38pts
2nd Dennis Pelly (14) 38pts
3rd Bruce McAdam (25) 38pts
4th Andre Coetzee (11) 37pts
5th Gordon Clegg (34) 37pts
It had been a while since we played C & D at Burapha so everyone looked forward to it on Monday. Being a public holiday meant the course was busy and the rate was high, but we nonetheless had a good crowd attending.
(From L to R) Chris Thompson, Andre Coetzee, Bob Mattes, John Stafford, Kim Danboise, Eddy Beilby and Bob Lindborg.
The greens weren’t so good today, with a lot of very bare patches, uneven and a fair bit of sand, definitely not the standard we’re used to at Burapha. Scoring was reasonable however, with two players (Gordon Clegg and Andre Coetzee) finishing on 37 points for 5th and 4th spots respectively.
The top 3 players all had 38 points and in count back order, Bruce McAdam clinched third, Dennis Pelly with 20 on the back nine made it to second spot and Kim Danboise, also with 20 on the back 9 was awarded the win because he had the best last six holes.
We had three ‘2’s from Dennis Pelly and B2 on hole 11 and Peter Moon on hole17.
Wednesday, Dec. 9, Khao Kheow – Stableford
1st Sugar Ray Handford (17) 37pts
2nd Andre Coetzee (13) 37pts
3rd Andrew Makara (23) 34pts
We were lucky enough to get onto the B & C layouts today and the course played well. From the yellow tees Khao Keow is a good challenge so the scoring was spot on, with only two players getting scores better than handicap.
Andy Makara came in third with 34 points after scoring a fabulous first 9 and then falling apart on the back 9. In second place, losing on count back after playing from the blue tees with a great tee to green game but no less than 7 three putts, was Andre Coetzee.
Sugar Ray Handford, also on 37 points but with a back nine of 19 points was crowned the winner for today. Sugar has been playing consistently well over the last few weeks.
Friday, Dec. 11, Green Valley – Medal
1st John Stafford (15) net 66
2nd Chris Thompson (25) net 67
3rd Barry McIntosh (23) net 69
4th Andre Coetzee (8) net 70
5th Bob Mattes (17) net 70
6th Bob Lindborg (23) net 71
7th Eddy Beilby (18) net 71
8th Kim Danboise (14) net 71
We got off to a good start but with a lot of groups playing there was always going to be a bit of a wait. Thanks go to Greg Hirst, our Devere monthly medal sponsor who joined us at the start of our day.
Green Valley is in pretty good condition at the moment, although the greens could perhaps be a bit quicker.
Eight players scored better than handicap with Bob Lindborg, Eddy Beilby and Kim Danboise all scoring 71 net for sixth place. Joint fourth, with 70 net was Andre Coetzee and Bob Mattes while Barry Mcintosh finished with a net 69 from his 23 handicap to take third on his own.
Chris Thompson with a 67 net fought it out with John Stafford but came second to John who was our winner on the day with a net 66. John has been threatening for the last few weeks and made it this time.
Andre Coetzee’s 78 was good enough to secure the gross winner’s medal on count back from Geoff Stimpson.
There were plenty of ‘2’s today, coming from Chris Thompson (2), John Stafford, Choppa, Pekka Palmu, Jay Roche, Pekka Suominen and Tom Byrne.
