Monday, May 23, Bangpra – Stableford

This was our first visit here for over six months due to the restricted tee off time in the high season and everyone enjoyed the course today considering the greens were very slick, almost similar to Mountain Shadow.

There were two divisions out today with the cut in division 1 at 6-16.  The best score came in division 2 and playing off 18 William Chang scored 22 on the front nine and won this division with 39 points.  Gordon Everingham was in second on 32.

Wednesday winners at Green Valley: Kari Aarnio and Bryan Rought. Wednesday winners at Green Valley: Kari Aarnio and Bryan Rought.

Back after a month off due to an accident on the bike and a dodgy leg, Chris Voller returned to win division 1 with 36 points while Billy Hewitt was second with 32.

Colin James birdied the 8th with a 30ft putt to take the ‘2’s purse in division 1 and a rollover ensued in division 2 to Green Valley.

Wednesday, May 25, Green Valley – Stableford

The last Wednesday of the month and our fun game sponsored by the rollover kitty; there were ten teams of 3 out in a 1-2-3 competition plus the normal stableford game with the cut today at 6-16 in division 1 and 17 + in division 2 plus the ladies of course.

Playing with us for many years, Kari Aarnio got cut in our  trip to Hua Hin from 18 to 16 and now returned a score of 41 points, 25 on the back nine, to win division 1 after beating Dave Stockman on a 25/19 count-back.  Playing off 4, Dave had a brilliant round with a gross 71.  Neville Scurrell was third with 37 points.

Bryan Rought won division 2 with 38 points and Gordon Everingham was second after beating Harry Riley on a 15/14 back six count-back, both on 37 points.

Mam Morel topped the ladies division with an incredible 40 points, apologies to her as we missed the photo of her back at Siam Cats.

Near pins went to Noi Emmerson, Mam Morel, Dave Stockman, Chris Voller (3), Andy Baber, Lee Casey, Brian Howe and Erik Reginiussen.

In the ‘2’s in division 1 Kari Aarnio, Colin James and Dave Stockman shared the pot and in division 2 Lee Casey birdied the 16th to get a rollover from Bangpra plus today’s purse.

In the 1-2-3  team competition, Dave Stockman , Harry and Ya Riley won with 82 points after beating Kari Aarnio, William Chang and Burnie Sinclair on a 52/51 back nine count-back, both teams on 82 points, while Jean Morel, Gordon Everingham and Erik took third, beating Grenville Hill, Bryan Rought and Neville Scurrell on a 52/49 count-back.

Terry Redding returned to the land of Oz last weekend and Colin James the same today.

Note:  At Eastern Star the greens are still unpredictable so we have cancelled the next two weeks and for a fun day out and for something completely different we are playing the naval course at Bang Saray.
