Monday, Nov. 10, Green Valley (white tees) – Stableford

1st Robbie Taylor (15) 39pts

2nd Ken Aihara (5) 38pts

T3rd Steve Mulberry (11) 36pts

T3rd Dave Mohr (18) 36pts

T3rd Andy Makara (29) 36pts

Green Valley once again was the location for the Monday Classic and it was a full house that showed up for breakfast.  The course was just superb and the weather gorgeous, which could possibly lull us into the complacency that the rains are gone for another year.  We certainly hope so.

Mr. Mulberry is back with us for the season after a long summer in Blackpool.  The tangerine dream team gave way to a generous gift from Steve to our man from Burma, the King of the BBQ, Raju, as Stevie brought him his own personal Manchester United kit which he is wearing proudly.  Add that to the team wallet signed by Wayne Rooney that John Hutt gifted a few weeks back and Choo probably now has the best collection of Man U stuff in Pattaya!

On to the golf as we saw the usual suspects up on the leaderboard with Robbie Taylor besting the rest.  Robbie is always a good laugh after the round and did very well today to clock up a fine 39 on the card for the win.

Wednesday, Nov. 12, Emerald (white tees) – Stableford

1st Peter Larsson (13) 37pts

2nd Ed Brubaker (13) 34pts

3rd Mike Cantrell (29) 27pts

Look up at that leaderboard!  A full 10 shots separated the first place from third place which starts to explain why The Emerald can be such a tough and unforgiving track.  It must have been a tough old slog for the rest of the field as none of them could muster better than 26 points on the day.

This is one of those little gems of Pattaya golf courses and as I have always said, it has probably the best collection of par-3 holes on offer.  After a dry and sparse summer, The Emerald is back in great form and one of the best value golf courses we play.

Over for a quick vacation from the States, Mike Cantrell must have been surprised to find his humble 27 points would garner a 3rd place finish, but it sure did.  Gentleman golfer Ed Brubaker had a good solid 34 point round here which would satisfy most locals on this challenging course.  It was our Swedish buddy and regular visitor Peter Larsson who took top spot today with a fine 37 as he winds down his last few rounds with us before heading back to a chilly Scandinavian November.

Friday, Nov. 14, Greenwood (white tees) – Stableford

1st Peter Larsson (13) 38pts

2nd Phil Smedley (11) 36pts

3rd Dave Ferris (23) 34pts

It is always nice to bring guys out here who have never played this course, as they always will become fans of this lovely track.  The course is in very good condition and the greens are faster and even trickier than I remember.

I have discovered something strange and interesting about the relationship between Greenwood and Pattavia that I would like to share.  I observed that when we played Pattavia a few weeks back, some of the views were nearly identical to those of Greenwood.  After I did the old “google Maps” thing of the area I discovered there is about 500 yards between the A-6 at Greenwood and the green at the 3rd hole at Pattavia.  Strange but true, so have a look, google it for yourself and you will see what I mean.

Leaving the geography for the golf, it seems to be a regular occurrence that a bloke gets to Pattaya and is here for a few weeks and at the end of his trip, everything starts to fall into place and the low scores are coming easier by the round.  Such was the case for Peter Larsson as he won on Wednesday and now also took the win today, his last round of his holiday.  Peter is the kind of guy everyone wants to play with as he is always smiling, cool and collected on the course.  Glad to see you finished on a high note mate!
