The Jomtien Golf Society
Monday, Nov. 6, Pattana – Stableford
Upon arrival here we were allocated the B and C nines which made a nice change and the cut in the two divisions with six groups out came at 10-17 and 18+.
Pete Sumner with 39 points won division 1 while Keith Woolley was second after beating Paul Butler on a 19/17 count-back after they both shot 36 points.
Alan Bissell topped division 2 with an even-par 36, with Theo Bahrt second on 34 and Curtis Hessler in third with 33.
Near pins went to (Div 1) Dave Horne, Dennis Scougall, Pete Sumner and Shane Tutton, and (Div 2) Gerry Cooke (2) and Curtis Hessler (2).
It was welcome back to the Irish boy Gerry Cooke and with two nearest the pins on his first game he also birdied B6 for the only ‘2’ of the day.
Wednesday, Nov. 8, Plutaluang – Stableford
Playing the East and South nines for a change we teed off behind a very slow four-ball in front and it led to a four and half round for our fist group.
We had an identical cut as of Monday and with 36 points, Bob Comartin recorded the highest score of the day to win division 1. The mad dentist Les Smith was second one point behind and Pete Sumner took third with 33.
Jim Connelly won division 2 on 35 points, with Curtis Hessler second one point behind and Alan Bissell in third with 33.
Near pins were claimed by (Div 1) Per Forsberg, Jim Goodfresh and Pete Sumner, and (Div 2) Peter Davies, Curtis Hessler, David Phillips and Allan Robartson.
Pete Sumner scooped a rollover in division 1 after a ‘2’ on South 4 and there was a rollover in division 2.
Friday, Nov. 10, Eastern Star – Stableford
Our highest turnout of the week with ten groups and with 3 divisions, with the equal cut set at 5-15, 16-20 and 21+.
With the amount of rain here recently the course was in a very good condition with some very manicured fairways but ‘pick, clean and place’ was not implemented today.
Seil Pete, playing off 10, won division 1 with 41 points, Mikael Andersson was second with a steady 36 and Pete Sumner came third on 35.
Mike Werner with 37 points topped the podium in division 2, with Frank Kelly second on 36 and Ian Plummer third with a measley 32 points.
A pair of arch rivals in division 3, Leo Adam beat Theo Bahrt on a back-nine count-back of 19/18 after they both came in with 36 points and Mike Hammell was third on 35.
Near pins went to (Div 1) Mikael Andersson, Bill Shepley and Seil Pete (2), and (Div 2) Jim Connelly, Frank Grainger, Rod Howett and Ian Plummer.
Bill Shepley birdied the 3rd, Mikael Andersson the 6th and Seil the 17th to split the ‘2’s pot in division 1 but in division 2 there was a double rollover to next Friday.
