The eagles have landed

Peter Alliss is famous for his quaint expressions and descriptions during the coverage of the British Open every year on the BBC, but it would be hard to imagine him coming up with a better response to an incident at Emerald during the Backyard outing last Friday, April 8.

Standing on the 10th tee the players were treated to something that you will never see at The Open or The Masters.  Two of the course K9s were engaging in some intimacies on the 18th green and when this was pointed out to the caddies, one replied that they were only there because the dogs had no money for a hotel room.  Top that Peter Alliss or Nick Faldo!

On to the game and the runaway winner was Irish John, scoring 41 points off an 8 handicap in a round that included 2 eagles on the back 9.  None of us had ever seen 2 eagles in a round before.  Two blobs unfortunately reduced what would have been a huge score.

The near-pin prize went to Foos yer Doos, back again from the Gulf for a while.

The skins were always likely to produce one big winner and with his 2 eagles Irish won 13 in total and the 2 roll-overs from the previous week.  Who BRought Him won 2, Stitches won 1 and we have 2 rolled over to the next game in 2 weeks time, as no one is sticking around for the Songkran water festival.

Even with the course offering a buggy for the same price as walking, some of us continue to walk most of the way.  There are still some who remain rather slow even with the motorized transport and Mr Quiet had (in his opinion anyway) cause to scold some of his playing partners for their tardy progress around the course.  Those regular readers can guess who the 2 slightly slow players were.
