The Backyard Golf Society

Martyn “The Quiet Man” of the Backyard Golf Society continued his recent good form on Friday, July 19, at Emerald, scoring 39 points to blitz the rest of the field by 4.  His handicap has dropped by some 8 shots over the last 6 months so he is going along nicely.

We had 3 groups out today and for the first time we can remember we caught up the Beaver Bar boys by the 6th hole.  This made for a slow back nine but still a fairly quick round overall, no point finishing too early and having to wait for the bars down the road to open.

Near-pin went to Jimmy 2 Stone on this occasion.  Skins were well spread out; The Quiet Man won the single roll-over from the previous week plus 6 more this week.  Irish John also won 6, Yaya’s Delight (we await the inevitable return of herself despite rumours of passports being acquired for yet another young lady!) won 3 and there were singles to Jimmy 2 Stone, the returning Dan ‘The Diet Whiskey Man’ and Golden Trowel’s Boyfriend.

Unlike other societies The Backyard Boys do not have a set meeting place but several members can usually be found attending the various Jomtien market bars most evenings and we had one of our infamous get-togethers there on Saturday to consume the large amassed sporting pool fund.
