First order of business, don’t forget our annual Songkran trip to Khao Yai leaving here on the 15th and returning to Pattaya on the 20th of April.  This is our yearly escape from the madness of the ever so long water dousing that has become an intolerable facet of the calendar here in Pattaya.  See all the details on our facebook.com page, but the gist of it is 5 nights hotel with breakfast and 4 rounds of golf for just 10,500 baht.

This week at Green Valley, we all played off the white tees, so a whopping six places were on offer for Pattaya’s finest golfers.  It was another beautiful day for golf as the partly cloudy skies gave the occasional respite from Mr. Sunshine.  We have quite pleasant weather of late, and so it should be for this time of year.

It was an American Snowbird (as we called the wintering Canadians in Florida) who shot the lights out and had a big red 40 circled at the top of his scorecard to claim victory on the day.  The affable Bob Patterson, native of a chilly Green Bay, Wisconsin, joins us in our sleepy little fishing village every year for at least the past dozen.  Bob is the man you want in your 4-ball if you are on the unwell side of life, as he serves as an emergency medical technician.  Well played to the lifesaver Bob, and come back soon buddy.

There were also many familiar names after Mr. Patterson; Mike Newbert had a very creditable 39 that normally guarantees a podium placing here.  A quartet of 38’s saw Ken Aihara, Jay “Cohiba” Burns, Michael “Don’t be” Hastie, and Peter Rogers tied for 3rd.  Another great bunch of guys who joined us for a great day of golf in fun city, so thanks lads for your support!

A good strong field proved for 2 flights today to take on the challenge of Khao Kheow.  Only 2 of the gang shot better than their handicap, as K.K. once again proved to be a tough test of the game.  This Pete Dye layout is one of the best in Thailand and is always a popular venue for our golf outings.

Keith Emerson was the best of the A Flight with 38 points and Paul Walsh shot his handicap for the victory in the B Flight.  Thanks for joining us for another great week of golf in Pattaya!
