A good turnout today 6 groups and everyone on time so we teed off right on time and with no holdups we were around in 4 hrs 20 mins.  The course was in good condition and seems to be getting better week by week.  Some of the areas that have been repaired are roped off so they cannot be damaged so well done to the green-keeper.

The Aussie boys made their mark with Garry & Geoff in A flight taking 1st & 2nd ahead of J.P. Maffray, all on count back with 37 points each.  But the star of the day was Peter Thomas who stormed home in the B flight with 41 points.  John Deardon had his best round for many a month with 39 points and poor old Nick Shaw had 38 but paid out all day long.

The Aussies nearly had a clean sweep on the near pins but Fred Birch pulled one back & Michele Delatraz took the longest putt.

Monday, March 6, Treasure Hill – Stableford

1st Peter Sorensen (28) 40pts

2nd Pornthip (38) 38pts

Just 9 players today so we elected to have a 4 ball and 5 ball groupings.  First time out with us today was Pornthip who got off to a flyer with 23 points on the front nine but faltered slightly on the inward half and had to settle for second place with 38 point in total.

Taking top spot was Peter Sorensen who overcame a slow start to record 40 points overall and win by 2 clear.  Nigel Harrison had a storming inward half of 23 points to collect third place on the podium after seeing 5 blobs on his scorecard on the outward half.

A good turnout today with 25 players and a lot of new faces.  Royal Lakeside is one of the best courses in the area and always very popular.  We arrived without mishap in 50 mins and were soon out on the 1st tee and straight off with no waiting.

The Donkey always likes this track and got off to a flyer after 7 holes with 20pts, but then the cracks started to appear and he finished third in B flight with 37 overall.  Two ahead of him was first timer with the group George Way and taking top spot was Barry Oats with a fine 43 points, including 26 on the outward nine.

Paul Smith made a rare visit to play like a golfing god and secured top place in A flight with 42 points plus 3 near pins.  Newcomer Doug Crowe placed second 4 points behind Paul and Vincent Smyth was a further point behind in third.

Friday, March 10, Crystal Bay C & B – Stableford

1st Colin Davis (22) 41pts

2nd Asger Levin (15) 36pts

3rd Nigel Harrison (28) 35pts

Near Pins: Robert Watkins, Asger Levin

Long Putt: Colin Davis.

Just 3 groups today and we arrived to find that the course was running late and it meant a slow round with at least 2 groups on the tee at par 3s.

Nigel Harrison managed to match the Donkey on the front nine but this only served to spur the Donkey on and he started a run of pars to canter home with 23 pts on the inward half and wrap it all up with the longest putt on the 18th.  Asger Levin had even 18 points on both nines to come home with a level-par 36 points and take second place.

The near pins were claimed by Robert Watkins and Asger Levin.
