PATTAYA, Thailand – On Tuesday, March 11, three groups teed off at Pleasant Valley Golf Course on a hot and humid day, with rain fortunately holding off until the round was completed. The course was in reasonable condition following overnight showers, but slow greens proved to be a challenge for all players, as reflected in the scores.
The competition was tight, with many players hovering just above 30 points. The top spot was fiercely contested, with both Allan Cassin and Neale Savery finishing on 33 stableford points. After careful countback calculations, Allan Cassin emerged victorious, edging out Neale based on the last six holes.
Results:
1st: Allan Cassin (13) – 33 points.
2nd: Neale Savery (28) – 33 points.
Near Pins: Dave Smith, Allan Cassin, Bob Edwards, Mike Malott. Maurice had the dubious honour of receiving the spoon.
On Thursday, March 13, another hot day greeted players at Plutaluang (East & South), with the absence of a cooling breeze making conditions challenging. The course had its share of dry patches, though it remained playable, and much-needed rain should help restore it soon.
Once again, competition was tight, with many players scoring closely. Breaking personal handicaps proved difficult on the day. Interestingly, most players performed better on the back nine than the front. The spotlight belonged to the “Al(l)ans,” as Alan-Edward Eden and Allan Cassin matched each other stroke for stroke. In the end, Alan-Edward Eden clinched victory on countback with 35 stableford points, narrowly defeating Allan Cassin.
Results:
1st: Alan-Edward Eden (28) – 35 points.
2nd: Allan Cassin (15) – 35 points.
Near Pins: Willem Lasonder, Maurice Paradis, Bob Edwards, Allan Cassin, Alan Wilson, Mick Bryan. Mike Malott took home the spoon.
